Today is the last day of school for my 10-year old twins. This last day is different from the others. You see, we are moving. So this day is not only the last day of fifth grade for my boys, but also the last day with their friends — many of whom they’ve known since preschool. It’s the last day in a fairly small school district where we are on a first name basis with the administration, and where we know enough parents to feel like someone always has an eye on our kids. There’s lots of comfort here.

For my campers it was six days of no little siblings, no parents.  For me, it was six long days, wondering what my kids are doing, if they actually woke up in time for breakfast, if they showered and if mold would be growing on their teeth (more…)

Easter/Spring sensory bins in a DIY sand/water table @ jaxinthebox.com I think spring has finally sprung. Not only is Easter around the corner, but the snow has melted here in Southern Wisconsin and green blades of grass are trying to muscle their way through the hay-like mat of sod in my backyard. My head is swimming with visions of fun outdoor summer activities.
